History of Royal Hague G&CC
The Koninklijke Haagsche Golf & Country Club, also known as "KHGCC", is a prestigious golf club located in Wassenaar, the Netherlands. It is one of the oldest golf clubs in the country and was founded in 1895.
Early years Koninklijke Haagsche Golf & Country Club
In the early years, the club was located on the grounds of present-day Kijkduin and was limited to a select group of members. In 1904, the club moved to Wassenaar and expanded to an 18-hole golf course. At that time, golf was not very popular and the club was only open to a select group of members, mainly from the upper class.
After World War II, golf took off and the club became increasingly popular. Membership grew rapidly and the club had to expand to meet demand. In the 1950s, the course was expanded to 36 holes and a new clubhouse was built.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the club expanded further and several improvements were made, including the construction of new greens and bunkers. At that time, the club was already one of the most exclusive golf clubs in the Netherlands and was considered a prestigious membership.

In the 1990s, the club also gained international fame and became a popular destination for foreign golfers. In 1999, the club was even named "Best Golf Club in the Netherlands".
